Upgrade Your Brain

For as long as I can remember, I've been interested in keeping my brain in shape. To do so, I played a lot of computer games in the past, but as I grew older, I began to settle for more gentle types of brain stimulation, such as reading books, blogs, magazines and listening to audio programs.

Personal interests can shift however and before you know it, you're stuck with a subscription that no longer resonates with you. About three months ago I found myself in that particular type of situation. At the time, I was subscribed to a magazine that cost me about $17 a month to read, but because the magazine's subject no longer addressed my interests, I was wasting money. So I decided to cancel my subscription and invest that money in new ways to improve myself.

Earlier this year, I had bought a Wii console, so a pretty good investment was to buy Big Brain Academy, a brain training program. I've been playing the game regularly and it genuinely works for me. I mainly detect an increase in my ability to memorize more, increase my attention span for longer periods of time, and analyze problems better. In other words, it helps me to keep my mind sharp. The only downside is, I don't always have my Wii console available to me. I can't play the game whenever I feel like it and because I didn't feel like investing in a portable device, I had to look for a better solution.

A couple weeks ago, my girlfriend directed my attention towards Lumosity, an online brain improvement program. I had never heard of it before, but it turns out to be one of the leading brain training programs in the world and is the result of extensive scientific research. That sounded pretty interesting to me. If I want my brain to be trained, I want the right kind of people to help me get the job done. So I read all about it, signed up for a trial period, played and enjoyed it immediately!

About Lumosity's Brain Improvement Program

Here is what Lumosity has to say about their product:

Lumosity is the premier site for scientific brain training. Our successful growth as a private company in the past year demonstrates the market's enthusiasm for training the brain to better health and performance. With a comprehensive suite of games and exercises, Lumosity is a uniquely powerful and fun way to improve brain fitness.

With a focus on quality, science-based games, it is not surprising that Lumosity has gained traction in the market as a trusted brain training website for people interested in health or gaming. Unlike many casual gaming sites, Lumosity appeals equally to both men and women. Students and young professionals use Lumosity to sharpen their mind for school and advance their careers. Baby Boomers use Lumosity to keep their mind fit, and seniors are often interested in fighting cognitive decline.

My intention for this blog is not only to help you increase your awareness, but also to point your attention towards interesting self improvement tools. I believe Luminosity.com is one of those websites that can make your mind sharper and does so at a very reasonable price. You get unlimited access to all brain improvement programs for only $6.70 / month (22 cents a day). That's dead cheap for a training program that can improve the way you interact with the world.
